FAN Stands Against Travel Bans

The day after cruel and racist travel bans went into effect in the U.S., Kristin Ang represented FAN alongside a powerful coalition at SeaTac to embody a core value of our multifaith network – that we all belong! Kristin shared, “Led by my friend and colleague, Port of Seattle Commissioner Hamdi Mohamed—herself a Somali refugee—the message was clear: we all belong. These bans hurt families. They rob people of sacred moments—weddings, funerals, visits during illness—by instilling fear. They rob students of opportunities and our country of their contributions. But today, we showed what belonging and solidarity look like. Together, we stood as a reflection of Washington’s immigrant dreams and the strength in our diversity. #NoRacistBan #WeBelong #WAforAll”

NO KINGS Protests

On June 14, "No Kings" protests will be taking place across Washington. We know that many of you will be attending, dismayed by this administration's apparent efforts to subvert democracy by disregarding court rulings, encroaching on the separation of powers, and undermining Americans' rights to due process, freedom of speech and freedom of assembly. As a multifaith organization, we are also concerned about the administration's threats to the pluralism that we cherish. If you want to reaffirm the power and rights of everyday people in our democracy, you can find information here and Interfaith Prayers by the Kairos Center here.

We noticed that the first prayer by the Kairos Center does not include Sikh and Buddhist spiritual traditions, so we offer this addition, to be included if you like before the last two paragraphs:

Reader 1: The writings of Sikh Guru Nanak say, "Even kings and emperors, with mountains of property and oceans of wealth--these are not even equal to an ant, who does not forget God." (Janji Sahib, Pauri 23). We pray in the Sikh tradition that, "our labors and prayers converge to create a beautiful canopy of dignity, equality, justice and friendship, for all living beings, under the heavens." No thrones, no crowns.

All say: NO KINGS.

Reader 2: With Buddhists we affirm: "Why don’t we pick up in both our precious hands that part of the wounded staggering world soul we’ve each been given to restore to health! In this, the briefest of moments, this brief meeting, our being here together, O now."

All say: NO KINGS, but all of us working together!

Sharing Gratitude for our Spring Summits So Far

Thank you to everyone who joined us earlier this month for our Spring Summits in Edmonds, Wenatchee, Spokane and Federal Way! It was rejuvenating to take time to celebrate important wins of the 2025 WA state legislative session together, and we are especially grateful to the Khalsa Gurmat Center, Edmonds UMC, Sunnyslope Church, and The Hive® for hosting our gatherings. As we reflected on our experiences of advocacy this past session, we also took time to listen for where we are feeling called to leverage our collective power in the coming months. Regional organizers are continuing to follow up on these ideas and we will share opportunities as they emerge this summer. We’ll also have an additional Summit on June 22, 2:00-3:30 pm at the FAN office in Seattle (register here).

Check out these Pride, Juneteenth
& other liberation events in your area!

As you participate in Juneteenth, Pride and other liberation and solidarity events, please send us your stories and photos. We'd love to lift up all the ways we as people of faith and conscience are celebrating that we all belong.
