Thank you to everyone who has been contacting our U.S. Senators, urging them to “Keep Fighting for Medicaid and SNAP!”
This morning the Senate narrowly passed the immoral budget we have been fighting against for months, voting 51-50, with Vice President Vance breaking the tie. This destructive bill makes massive cuts to healthcare and food access for our communities while handing tax breaks to billionaires and funding mass deportations.
As people of faith and conscience, we believe that healthcare and food are human rights, and we will continue to insist that these devastating cuts to SNAP ($300 billion) and Medicaid (nearly $1 trillion) are immoral. SNAP helps make sure kids have a nutritious dinner to eat when they come home from school, and Medicaid makes it possible for nearly 2 million people in our state to access affordable healthcare, especially if they live in rural areas. These programs are investments that benefit all of us, and we will continue fighting for our communities.
The House has begun reconciling the Senate’s changes to the budget and plans to hold a final vote as early as Wednesday in an attempt to pass the bill by July 4th. Join us TODAY as FAN advocates across the state call their U.S. Representative and urge them to vote NO on this immoral budget.
