SNAP Beneficiaries Need Our Advocacy!

Starting on November 1, individuals will not receive SNAP benefits for November due to the ongoing federal government shutdown. Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Plan or SNAP helps put food on the table for about 11% of Washingtonians. This means that many folks in our community will be making tough decisions on whether to buy groceries or forgo other needs like housing or medications. It also means that food pantries, meal programs, and other social services will see increased demand. Please take action today to support our neighbors by urging Congress to release emergency SNAP funds and find a local food bank to donate to or volunteer. If you need food assistance you can find help here.

on November 16

Whether you’ve attended every FAN event, one or two, or if you’re new to FAN and want to learn more, we hope you can join us for an evening of inspiring speakers, delicious food, and uplifting music as we celebrate and support the power of multi-faith advocacy at our Annual Dinner.

Not only is this special evening our chance to connect, celebrate, and uplift the progress we've made together with gatherings in Seattle, Spokane, and online. It is also an opportunity to ensure that we can continue the increasingly important work of providing a strong multifaith presence centered on the dignity and equal worth of each human being, the protection and safety of all members of our communities, and the value of pluralism and religious diversity.

Have you been thinking about sponsoring the dinner? This Friday, October 31, is the deadline for sponsors to be included in our promotions. When you register, select your desired sponsorship level and let us know how many seats you would like to reserve. Sponsors who register after October 31 will still get priority seating near the stage and recognition at the event.

In light of SNAP benefits being suspended beginning November 1, we encourage our guests to bring non-perishable, shelf-stable food items for collection at dinner, and FAN will transport them to a local food bank after the dinner.

We Want to Hear from You

With the 2026 legislative session approaching, we want to hear from our network on what issues are most important to you and what kind of advocacy programming you’d like to see from FAN. Please take a few minutes to fill out our survey. Your responses will help us prepare our training offerings for the 2026 short legislative session and will help inform our legislative priorities.

Take Action

Faith Action Network, the Church Council of Greater Seattle, the Jewish Coalition for Immigrant Justice and the WA Council on American-Islamic Relations have been working in coalition with organizations across WA state to prepare for increased ICE presence, a potential federal deployment of troops to our cities, and other fear tactics. Together we hope and plan to practice increased solidarity with our migrant neighbors.

Join a Multi-faith Convening: Migrant Solidarity on Monday, November 3 from 6:30-8:00 PM in Seattle (Doors open at 6:00, location shared with registration). We know from our partners in other states the vital role people of faith have played to resist the federal government’s overreach and support our migrant neighbors. During this convening, we will share various ways people of faith and conscience can show up to support migrant community members now, and how to get plugged in if / when there is federal escalation.
