On Saturday, March 28, people from across the country will rally for No Kings III to continue pro-democracy mass mobilizations and proclaim that our power is of the people, by the people, and for the people.
At FAN, we know that people of faith and conscience play a critical role in protecting our democracy and confronting authoritarianism. At a time when the federal government is violating the civil and human rights of our neighbors and using white Christian nationalism to justify its actions, our multi-faith, non-partisan presence provides a counter narrative and a moral vision for how we live as a country and take care of one another. As we celebrate the unique voices of our spiritual traditions, we demonstrate that our diversity is sacred and that pluralism is a core part of our democracy.
While many partisan pro-democracy organizations are doing critical work, we have the unique ability to bring non-partisan participation into this historical moment. As we ground our actions in sacred values instead of a specific political party or candidate, we demonstrate that the work of democracy is bigger than political affiliation and includes everyone.
As we continue our work for the common good, let’s intentionally and visibly bring our multi-faith gifts to the table on March 28th. Join us in these actions below:
- Participate visibly in a No Kings III near you
- Wear a shirt or hold a banner that highlights your faith community name or FAN
- Make signs that pair a quote from your sacred text/teachings with a pro-democracy message – use this No Kings messaging guide from Interfaith Alliance to spark your imagination.
- If you are a faith leader, wear your traditional vestments or garments
- Organize others to join you!
- Make a personal invitation to 3 other people from your community to join you
- Pick a meeting place near the event and gather ahead of time to walk together
- Connect with FAN at one of these No Kings III events below and let us know if you are hosting/organizing a group in another location so we can highlight it! Reach out to particular staff if you have questions.
Several FAN staff attended Interfaith Alliance’s recent training to learn how we can more fully bring multi-faith language and practices into pro-democracy work. If you’d like to take a deeper dive into their resources, you can find more here:
