Our wonderful supporter Rick Steves, guidebook author, travel TV host and member of Trinity Lutheran Church Lynnwood, has confirmed he will be with us at our Annual Dinner in November! Rick’s passion for advocacy and generosity for justice always makes FAN more effective, and this year he has a special challenge. Can you help us reach out to business owners you know to sponsor our dinner? Rick writes:
One beautiful thing about traveling as much as I do: when I come home to Washington, it’s clear to me how richly blessed we are to call this state home. And as a businessman, I appreciate the economic environment as well as our natural environment. Clearly, we have lots to be thankful for, and as good corporate citizens, that comes with a responsibility to be leaders in guarding and nurturing what makes Washington such a great place in which to live.
I’m also thankful to work in a community with other business leaders who understand we are an important part of the mix and that by giving back to our communities, together we make Washington a more equitable and just place to live and work!
I have an exciting challenge for you: Join me to help empower an amazing organization to make our communities even better. One of my favorite fundraising events of the year is the Annual Dinner hosted by Faith Action Network (FAN), a non-profit organization I’ve supported for years. This year’s celebration is Sunday evening, November 18, 2018, at the Renton Pavilion.
When you join me in helping sponsor FAN’s Annual Dinner, I will match your sponsorship gift 100%, up to $30,000. That’s how strongly I feel about FAN. Your company name and logo will be promoted to FAN’s statewide audience during the months leading up to the dinner, as well as the night of the event. An extra bonus would be to have you join me in person at a table that night.
FAN works with interfaith communities and community groups across the state to make change in public policy that benefits our neighbors—particularly those who are struggling. FAN’s work is not partisan, and the changes they advocate for mean more food security for families, affordable housing, options for people leaving prison, racial equity and environmental justice. With the important issues it advocates for in Olympia, I see FAN not as a charity but as a service. As someone who wants to make a difference, I love advocacy. I like to say that advocacy is charity quadrupled—and your gift to FAN will have a big and positive impact on the lives of struggling Washingtonians at a time when speaking up for our values in the halls of government has never been more vital.
Help FAN create ripples of hope and justice across our state!
Please contact Co-Director Elise DeGooyer at 206-625-9790 if you own a business or would like to help with outreach to meet Rick’s generous challenge.
