Last Days to View the Terra Exhibition

In the past week I have had the opportunity to spend several hours with the Earth in the St. Mark's Cathedral sanctuary. For me, being in the presence of this Earth image was a sacred experience of awe, humility and beauty. I highly recommend taking some time to see it this week.

The free TERRA Exhibition will be open every weekday through this coming Friday, Nov. 21 at St. Mark's Cathedral (1245 Tenth Avenue East, Seattle) noon-5pm. You may want to consider going in the late afternoon at dusk, to fully experience what our earth feels like in the universe.

Photos can't replace the experience of this 24-foot museum-grade globe, suspended from the central beam in the cathedral nave, illuminated from within and slowly rotating. This awe-inspiring exhibit is co-produced by Revival Gatherings and Orbis Globes, in collaboration with Saint Mark's.

In the words of Ben Browner & Eric Morris, co-producers of the exhibit: "The intention of the Terra Exhibition is to invite people into what astronauts often describe as the “Overview Effect.” When we come into contact with our Earth in its miraculous wholeness—borderless and sanctified—it inspires an awe and wonder that’s terrestrially unrivaled. These exalted emotions... have the power to change core perspectives about our humanity, engendering a holy respect for the natural world and our place in it."
