Join Olympia Indivisible to stand in solidarity with DREAMers

Start: Tuesday, September 05, 201712:00 PM

End: Tuesday, September 05, 201712:30 PM

Let's join Olympia Indivisible to #DefendDACA!

Indivisible chapters across the nation are taking to the streets (in partnership with United We Dream and progressive organizations throughout America) to stand in solidarity with our young Dreamers and tell Trump and Members of Congress to protect the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program (DACA) and the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) programs.

DACA recipients, immigrants protected under TPS and all Americans who stand with them have a message to the Trump administration: We have won before, we will win again, and we are #HereToStay. We will stand up for what is right.

Olympia Indivisible needs its members and members of all Indivisible chapters in CD-10 and local progressives organizations to join us for STAND UP FOR DACA AND TPS, a photo op on the steps of the Insurance Building on the Capitol Campus tomorrow, Tuesday, Sept. 6 at noon. The weather will be unseasonably hot, so we will keep this event short (we’ll be done by 12:30pm at the latest).

WHAT WILL WE DO?

1. We will gather at the steps with banners and signs.

2. We will sign posters for our Members of Congress to support legislation to protect Dreamers.

3. We’ll snap some great photos and get them out into the world.

WHERE AND WHEN DO WE MEET? On the steps of the Insurance Building (same place we met for #KilltheBill), 302 Sid Snyder Ave SW, Olympia, WA 98504. Please arrive before noon if possible so we can start on time! Map and parking directions at: http://leg.wa.gov/LIC/Documents/Maps/Capitol_Campus_Map.pdf

WHAT SHOULD YOU BRING?

1. Yourself, with sunscreen applied, sunglasses, light clothes (sport your organization’s T-shirt if you have it!), and water bottle.

2. Signs in support of DACA  and Dreamers (e.g., Support DACA, Protect our Young Dreamers, 95% of DACA recipients are working or in school; Keep Families Together; Here to Stay; DACA makes America Great! Immigrant Rights are Human Rights; Dreamers, Not Criminals #DACA).

3. Banner for your organization, if you have one.
